Super pleased to be recognised as one of the UK’s top 100 female business owners for my dedication to the small business community, particularly in mentoring women in business and supporting young people. community.

Some say ‘leader’, ‘business owner’, or ‘entrepreneur’. I’m not too keen on the word ‘entrepreneur’. It conjures up images of plonkers in sharp suits that spend way too much time in front of the mirror. Anyway, before I go off on a tangent, I’m proper chuffed to be a part of f:Entrepreneur #iAlso100 alongside 99 other amazing female business owners. It’s a great time to be a female in business and the support out there just gets stronger by the year.

Small Business Britain and the f:Entrepreneur #iAlso100 Campaign

Small Business Britain, the leading champion of small businesses, created the f:Entrepreneur #iAlso100 campaign eight years ago. The campaign celebrates the multi-achievements of female business owners, raising awareness of their impact. In addition, the f:Entrepreneur ‘#iAlso100’ line-up spotlights those leading purpose-driven businesses that juggle volunteering, mentoring, and community support.

“It’s wonderful to have Anna Short featured in 2025’s #iAlso100 – all of the female entrepreneurs in this year’s line-up are simply phenomenal,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, founder of Small Business Britain.

“It is vital that we recognise the impressive contribution of the UK’s female business owners and do all we can to support and encourage them throughout their entrepreneurial journey, from start-up to scale-up. As well as making a huge economic contribution to the UK, female entrepreneurs also create a wider positive impact that ripples across society and local communities too.”

A Fab Start to the Year

This recognition is a fab way to start the year. It reinforces that focus as a business owner and for Boo! Marketing in supporting small businesses.

My passion for supporting the UK small business community grows year on year. This acknowledgement reinforces that commitment to continue to support the growth of female owned businesses from 20% to 30% by 2030. I’ll not get into a rant about the fact that it stands at 20% at the moment – this makes me even more determined. Now, it’s about coming together with like-minded people and businesses to change this by supporting, inspiring one another, and celebrating achievements of female business owners. After all, females do make damn good leaders!

Empowering Women in Business

In addition to this recognition, I’ve been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at empowering women in business. From hosting workshops to providing one-on-one mentoring, the goal has always been to create a supportive environment. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and seeing the positive impact is what drives me to continue pushing forward.

Moreover, Boo! Marketing has been at the forefront of supporting small businesses from the outset with innovative marketing strategies tailored to their unique needs. An approach that not only drives sales, it builds lasting relationships to achieve sustainable growth. The Top 100 achievement is testament to the values held by the business and its partners, alongside the hard work and dedication of the entire team. This motivates us to keep striving for excellence.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the future and the opportunities it holds for female business owners. With the right support and resources, we can significantly increase the number of successful female-led businesses in the UK. It’s about creating an ecosystem where women feel empowered to take risks, innovate, and lead with confidence.
